For use by HR representatives, this template provides a scorecard to evaluate the quality of the performance appraisals completed by managers. After all the formal reviews have been submitted to HR, for a given review period, a small sampling of completed appraisals should inform the completion of the scorecard.  After a significant change to the appraisal program, a larger sampling of appraisals should be used. This scorecard offers the following benefits:

  • Accountability for managers.
  • Quality assurance.
  • Developmental feedback for managers.
  • Data for the appraisal of managers.
  • Better quality performance appraisal results.

Use this template as a starting point, and modify it to suit the needs of your situation. Adding a review mechanism will help optimize the performance appraisal program.
