what a normal file server would be able to do.

What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?
this change from 2 physical servers of data to sharepoint changed the way we worked and it was for the better. but also it ps much better than a tribal drive- you can just go to that link from any browser without the cumbersome vpn. it is the best thing for remote teams because the syncronization very sure upon and files is always available. the security layer is far beyond what you would get with basic consumer focused cloud storage services.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
When you click on a document, I very much like the fact that you can view an activity feed to see who last edited a given document. the check in / check out feature is good for preventing two people from trying to make big changes to the same file simultaneously. i like the custom lists feature which we use to track inventory and it works almost as a mini-attend database for us. But this is very snappy and those pages load times are remarkably impressive lately.
What do you dislike most about this product?
the web interface can often feel quite click-heavy when you merely want to do a simple action like rename a folder. I wish there was a way to ensure that the sync client on windows doesn't go hung regularly and then require me to restart it.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
This is the must-have tool that helps modernize your office and frees up those old hardware servers. It offers very secure and scalable environment for all your professional documents and team projects. Then if you invest some time to learn the advanced features, truly get your moneys worth.
Pros
- Performance Enhancing
- Caring

streamlining our internal workflows.

What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?
we chose sharepoint and not box because the workflow features are on a whole other level. the capability of creating our own forms with power apps that will flow directly into sharepoint lists is a game changer for our hr group. it’s the best because it’s a platform you can build on, not just a service you use. it grows with your company. we initially had just file storage on there and now it powers everything all the way from employee onboarding.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
so glad the new modern works better than old classic one. it’s responsive, and it actually looks like a website that you would want to use. The “highlighted content” widget is probably my favourite, which automatically sets the most recent files I’ve interacted with. the search bar at the top is quite clever and generally fetches what i need even if i only remember one word of the title. it makes my work day feel so much more productive.
What do you dislike most about this product?
how it handles deep-linking to folders can be infuriating. 1 sometimes the urls become extremely long and when you’re trying to paste them in other older applications or chat tools they dont fit.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
if you believe that automating your business processes and having all your files in one place is a good idea, this is the best option in town.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Performance Enhancing

A mighty weapon in the battle for document control

What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?
Having what is essentially the only tool on the market that gives us the audit trails we need in our industry, compliance is everything. Opposite of g-suite, where tracking changes is a little loose, sharepoint gives you very fine details on who did what when. It’s the best because it satisfies all our compliance needs while also being user-friendly so non-tech staffers can use it everyday. The data loss prevention features are a huge win for us.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I especially like the news web part on homepages. It lets our leaders make posts that rank on things the employees actually see. With a fresh visual design, modern websites are extremely clean looking and can be proportionately scaled intofancy layouts. I also appreciate the onedrive integration and it allows for seamless transition of personal files and team related files. Similarly, the ability for users to have custom columns in files like "status" or "assigned to" is super useful for tracking.
What do you dislike most about this product?
It certainly is not a “plug and play” system. You have to stay on top of it and you really do need a person who knows what they are doing to get it set up correctly, or else it goes off the rails in a hurry.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Sharepoint we adopted sharepoint 8 years ago, and organizations who are concerned with governance of their data should definitely be using it.
Pros
- Performance Enhancing
- Respectful
- Over Delivered
- Includes Product Enhancements
Cons
- Commodity Features
- Less Transparent
- Leverages Incumbent Status
