Reliable document management platform
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?
Many competing platforms require separate apps or interfaces for collaboration and editing. SharePoint embeds it into tools users already know. SharePoint provides enterprise-grade, detailed version histories with governance capabilities.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The “Alert Me” feature is a lifesaver. Instead of constantly checking a folder to see if a client uploaded a signed contract, I can just tell SharePoint to send me an email the second a new file appears. If I upload a photo of a receipt or a scanned contract, SharePoint automatically “reads” the text, making the content searchable and allowing AI tools to summarize it.
What do you dislike most about this product?
SharePoint is not “plug and play.” If you just dump files into it without a strict plan, it quickly becomes a digital graveyard. This is something I find clunky.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
The biggest mistake people make is treating SharePoint like a traditional hard drive. Instead of one massive site with 50 folders, create multiple sites and link them together using a Hub Site. This keeps permissions simple and makes the search engine much more accurate.
