Great for managing external vendors.
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?
We use sharepoint to collaborate with our manufacturing partners, and its far more secure than any other file sharing site we’ve used. It’s the best as we can build “extranet” sites where vendors only see what we want them to see. So the ability to require multi-factor authentication for these guests is a major security win for us.” It is transforming the openness of our external communications to be as secure as our internal ones.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The "document id" feature is most useful for us. It gives each file a permanent link, unbreakable even if you move the file to another folder. We do use these links in our technical manuals. I also like the "request files" option that i can send a link to the vendor and upload their invoices directly into a folder, without seeing anything else within the directory. It's very clean and professional.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The ui for managing "guest users" on the back-end is slightly clunky and often involves going into the azure portal, which is far too technical for most users.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
For any business that needs to share sensitive data with third parties on a constant basis, sharepoint offers you the most secure and professional way of doing it.

Improving productivity across departments
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?
Before sharepoint none of our departments talked to each other, but now we have this common ground for files. They beat having a messy network drive middleman because you get a full-fledged web front-end to your data. it’s the best, because it fosters sharing rather than hoarding files on one’s desktop. we have also seen a sharp decline in, where is this file? emailed since we launched the new sharepoint intranet.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I really like the idea of these hub sites. it lets us connect multiple department sites together, so they can have shared navigation and search. it makes the entire company like one team. the copy to and move to functions via the web interface are also incredibly snappy and pleasant for reorganizing files. it’s a really well thought out system that does all the boring parts of file management quite effectively.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Sometimes the search is too good and brings up files in other departments that you have access to but which aren’t relevant to what you’re actually trying to do.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you want to tear down the walls in your organization and build a common digital work environment, sharepoint is the standard for enterprise collaboration.
Pros
- Unique Features
- Efficient Service
- Effective Service
- Client's Interest First

It's a massive help for our hr team
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?
Until we created a secure sharepoint for human resources, managing employee records was a hellhole. it’s better than storing files on a local server because we can configure distinct permissions for managers and staff without too much hassle. that’s the best because of the metadata tagging. and instead of folders, we use tags like hiring year or document type that makes tracking down a single person’s contract a five second job. it has brought our whole department into the present.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
For Microsoft Teams there is the integration with Single-sign-on (SSO) and others. or a tab in our hr team channel be opened directly with our sharepoint list of candidates. it’s so convenient. i also know like the “page analytics judgetyour speed” which tells me how many people have read the most recent policy update johnson. it helps us ensure that the staff is truly seeing important information, which is key for our compliance.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The learning curve building "term stores" and "managed metadata" is vertiginous. it’s not something the average user can decipher without a tutorial.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
