What differentiates Microsoft Sharepoint from other similar products?
I feel sharepoint is all round a great tool to use & is highly utilised within my organisation. used seamlessly with all Microsoft features and allows an effective way to share information with teams & managers, the biggest differentiator is definitely the way it integrates and is used within the organisation
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Integration with other applications & the fact that many people use the product already, one of the best features that we benefitted from when moving data from file shares to Sharepoint was the access controls & the management it enabled, this is parented with a teams collaboration space which makes for a flawless combo.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Limitations with editors to get the perfect feel for a SharePoint, sometimes its very strange and doesn't do exactly what is wanted. The editor is a poor experience
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Its normally a bolt-on addition to a standard Microsoft license so should be tested & used but careful consideration to organisation controls for sharing content need to be enabled.
Pros
- Reliable
- Enables Productivity
- Unique Features
- Security Protects

Can be improved

What differentiates Microsoft Sharepoint from other similar products?
Microsoft SharePoint offers more features and the ability to create simple websites. Control over how information is shared and managed among tasks is possible.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Organizing information and creating a structure is done in a way even novice users can manage with little assistance.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The functionality surrounding sharing rules and permissions is very confusing. Permissions are granted on several different levels--per organization, per site, per folder--and figuring out the different levels for each user type is frustrating.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
SharePoint could be useful for fairly small libraries of content when the system users (preferably also a small group) are committed to being consistent about their metadata and organizational conventions. It is not appropriate for large organizations with massive amounts of data and content to organize.
Pros
- Reliable
- Effective Service
- Helps Innovate
- Performance Enhancing
Cons
- Slower Product Innovation
