What differentiates Microsoft Project from other similar products?
It stands out in that it does not try to be simple. it’s the best because it understands the complexity of real-world project management. while other apps bury the hard stuff behind a slick ui, project gives you all levers from baseline tracking to earns value analysis. it’s a grow with you project management skills tool.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I love the automated burndown charts. they’re essential for our agile hybrid projects to know whether we’re actually going to reach our sprint goals. the 2024 professional edition has way better integration with azure devops so my developers can work in their world while i can remain within mine. sync is quick and i have not run into anything corrupting data so far.
What do you dislike most about this product?
It’s a memory hog. in case you have a large project file and outlook running in background at the same, your computer will certainly feel it. you are going to need a powerful work station for this to run smoothly.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If your projects have lots of moving parts and high stakes, don’t compromise and go with a lite tool. project is the sole one that provides you full visibility.
Pros
- Inspires Innovation
- Altruistic
- Client's Interest First
- Security Protects

What differentiates Microsoft Project from other similar products?
This is in a league of its own compared to free tool. it is the best because of its reliability, and it depth. well now i know if i handle my project properly the dates will be correct. it brings me a lot of confidence while talking to my clients. The scheduling engine that you get with them is tested from dozens of years and millions of users, which reflects in the quality.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I like the resource management things. i can look at a heat map of our team's availability, so that i quickly see potential bottlenecks. the gantt charts are also super easy to read and they look good in a presentation. i personally also find the auto scheduled tasks to be a massive time saver. i don't need to adjust all of mu dates manually when something changes. software does all the work for me based on the links i created. it seems very intelligent and useful to use. the integration with other microsoft apps is an also great.
What do you dislike most about this product?
the interface is rather dated and can be tricky to use at first. so many menus and options that it can be difficult to be able to recall where everything is. it definitely requires some training.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
this is an indispensable tool for any serious project manager. it offers a level of precision and control that other software simply cannot match. it was hugely helpful to me as someone who is responsible for large or complex projects.
