Developer-friendly APM tool
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Stackify Retrace from other similar products?
What sets Retrace apart is its fantastic code-level performance monitoring, especially for .NET applications. Unlike many competitors, it provides deep insights without being overwhelming. The pre-production profiling feature (Prefix) is unique and super helpful for developers.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect is how developer-centric the tool is. The ability to trace issues from logs directly to the problematic code is incredibly useful. The way it integrates error tracking, logs, and performance metrics makes troubleshooting much more straightforward than with other tools I've used.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The biggest drawback is that it feels somewhat limited outside the .NET ecosystem. While they've added support for other languages, the experience isn't as polished.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I'd say it's a no-brainer for .NET shops, especially if you're cost-conscious. Start with their Prefix tool (it's free) to get a feel for their approach. Make sure to evaluate their language support for your specific tech stack, and take advantage of their responsive support team during setup. It's particularly good for smaller to mid-sized teams who want solid APM without the enterprise price tag.

What differentiates Stackify Retrace from other similar products?
Stackify Retrace stands out because it offers full stack monitoring with deep insights into application performance, errors, and logs all in one place. What makes it unique is its code level diagnostics, which help developers quickly pinpoint the root cause of issues. It is built with developers in mind, offering easy integration with various tools and a user friendly interface that does not require a steep learning curve.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
What I really like about Stackify Retrace is how it lets you dig into the code to find exactly where things are going wrong. Instead of guessing or spending ages trying to track down the problem, you can pinpoint it quickly and fix it faster. It’s super helpful for getting to the root cause.
What do you dislike most about this product?
What I do not like about Stackify Retrace is that it can feel a bit overwhelming at first. With so many features and data to look through, it takes some time to get used to. If you are new to performance monitoring tools, there might be a bit of a learning curve.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I would recommend taking the time to get familiar with its features. It has a lot to offer, but it can be a bit much at first. Start with the basics, and as you get comfortable, explore the deeper features like code level diagnostics. Also, make sure to take advantage of their support resources if you need help along the way. Once you get the hang of it, it’s a really powerful tool.
