What is Snowflake?
Snowflake’s cloud data platform supports a multi-cloud strategy, including a cross-cloud approach to mix and match clouds as you see fit. Snowflake is available globally on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform. With a common and interchangeable code base, Snowflake delivers advantages such as global data replication, which means you can move your data to any cloud in any region, without having to re-code your applications or learn new skills.

What differentiates Snowflake from other similar products?
Snowflake is easy to deploy or scale, and since it's all cloud-based, there's nothing stopping anyone interested from using it. The SQL-based approach makes it easy to manage and query data lakes, and the cloud-native setup ensures everything runs smoothly. Therefore, you can count on optimal performance even when dealing with heavy data workloads.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Its continued stability, made possible by a well-designed architecture that easily handles massive data demands, is excellent. Additionally, the ability to time travel helps us with data recovery and error debugging. We can send data to monitor the change of SCD and it is failsafe for disaster recovery.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Many open source tools cannot be used natively. Materialized views are limited to a single table.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Snowflake is ideal for cloud-based analytical data warehouse type workloads, where the data is large and query access patterns are well established. It can be your common tool for extracting data and creating tables as SQL is a basic and easy-to-use data science language without the need to fully understand the data type.
