What is ServiceNow Asset Management?

ServiceNow Asset Management tracks the financial, contractual, and inventory details of hardware and virtual infrastructure – as well as non‑IT assets – throughout their lifecycle. Asset requests are handled using workflows to obtain approvals, validate entitlements, issue chargebacks, and provision services. Once an asset is deployed, Asset Management records all maintenance activity and enables IT to perform regular audits, right up until asset retirement.

What differentiates ServiceNow Asset Management from other similar products?

What really sets ServiceNow apart is how well it integrates with other ServiceNow modules like ITSM, CMDB, and Procurement. You get a full view of your asset lifecycle in one place, which helps reduce silos and improves data accuracy across the board.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I really like how much automation it brings to the asset tracking process. Tasks that used to be manual, like updates or lifecycle status changes, now happen automatically, saving a lot of time and reducing errors.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The initial setup can be overwhelming, especially if your organization doesn’t already follow a clear asset management process.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

It’s a powerful tool, but it works best when it’s set up properly and used alongside other ServiceNow modules.
