When managing dozens of applications tied to critical operations like payments, compliance, and reporting, having a clear line of sight into app performance, cost, and value is essential. ServiceNow makes that clarity possible, offering a structured framework to align IT with business goals seamlessly

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

One of the most impactful features is the business capability mapping. It doesn’t just catalog your apps—it connects them to the business functions they support. For instance, we could easily identify which tools underpinned critical compliance reporting workflows and prioritize those for updates. The health metrics are also invaluable, offering real-time insights into app performance, risks, and lifecycle stages.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I wish the user interface for advanced analytics was more intuitive.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

For our finance IT team, ServiceNow APM has delivered measurable results. By streamlining the application portfolio, we’ve not only reduced costs but also improved system reliability and alignment with business objectives. Audit preparation, a once stressful task, has become far simpler since all the data we need is organized and at our fingertips.

What differentiates ServiceNow APM from other similar products?

The major differentiator is the workflow automation and reporting capabilities. Many traditional APM tools still rely heavily on manual updates and spreadsheet-based tracking, but ServiceNow APM automates a lot of those governance and review process. That saves time for IT teams while improving data accuracy and visibility for leadership. I also like how scalable the platform is for large enterprise environments where managing hundred or even thousands of applications can become difficult.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I like most about ServiceNow APM is how it helps simplify complex application environments. In large organizations, managing hundred of application across different department can become overwhelming, but the platform gives a clear and organized view of the entire portfolio. That visibility makes it easier to identify outdated system, overlapping tools, and areas where modernization efforts should be prioritized.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The downside is the dependency on data quality. The platform works best when application inventories, CMDB records, and ownership information are consistently maintained. If the underlying data is incomplete or outdated, the reporting and insights can become less reliable, which creates extra work for IT teams to keep everything accurate.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

The important recommendation is to invest time in maintaining clean and reliable CMDB and application data. Since many of the platform's insight and reporting features depend on accurate information, data quality has a major impact on the overall experience and value you get from the system. And improve data accuracy, and build internal adoption before expanding across the organization.
