Selenium is an open source web browser automation tool, but you will require Java/Python knowledge to create automation scripts. It is an open source tool and hence you will get plenty of your queries answered from internet.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Good community support and number of solutions are available on Stack overflow. There are number of architectures which you can choose from Data driver, hybrid and many more.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Selenium is an open source tool, hence there is no dedicated team available for support. You need to search and find the solution on internet itself. Persons who are not good in technical knowledge may face difficulty in creating automation scripts.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you are good in any scripting language and your goal is to automate web based automation, you can go for this tool.

Selenium is having lot of unique feature some of the unique features are ,Parallel executions feature using same browser in parallel and different browser in parallel as well. Easy Integration with CI tools and version controlling tools. Support multiple browser like Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc. It's very useful for Website Automations like data-process automation and data collection. Even without technical experience, you can create test suites and validation using the recording tool. It can be integrated with lot of third party applications. There is a huge community of users and can get resolution of your query easily.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

It's very useful application for automating web API and running automatic script to get the test coverage. Some of them are, Smooth to automate web applications, different options to locate web elements, open source and having the ability to integrate with testing frameworks. Support different browser like chrome, safari, firebox etc. It will work fine with different OS as well. You can connect to Git and Jenkin to automate your task easily which reduce lot of manual effort. We can use Selenium to automate the form-filling process and It can be used for data scraping as well. Helps to achieve great coverage of Regression Test Cases.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It's a great helpful product for testing and automating but still it require improvement in some areas. Some of them are, If you don't have programming language understanding then it is difficult to learn and adapt in their software projects. Not supporting automate windows applications, currently used to automate only web applications. It is too complex for the newer people to get started on. Images Testing is not supported. And take little more time when you are trying to run the script for a large product.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I will recommend all testing team to use Selenium, By using this they can reduce manual testing effort while performing Regression or end to end testing. Easy to automate web application, Identify web elements keep them in to the Object repository, Whatever the operation need to perform like click, Send Keys, are easily to perform. By using selenium WebDriver we have separate OR and Test case files. All the function need to create in the OR and call those functions in Test java file. Selenium is an open source application with large helpful community so you will get help easily when you need.
