What is Selenium?
Selenium automates browsers. That's it! What you do with that power is entirely up to you. Primarily it is for automating web applications for testing purposes, but is certainly not limited to just that. Boring web-based administration tasks can (and should) also be automated as well.

The ideal tool for automating testing processes.

What differentiates Selenium from other similar products?
Selenium performs automation processes with a real human logic. Setting up the business logic and getting it ready for selenium is the basic requirement for you to create test automation. But that's not all that selenium can do. It can also handle web scrapping. In other words, it is like a Swedish army knife that contains many things.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Approaching the testing process with a human logic. This is the reason I love selenium the most.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The only shortcoming I can say is the loss of speed and performance, partly due to the working logic.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you need automation, it's the first framework to get.

God of Front end Automation

What differentiates Selenium from other similar products?
Although there are a ton of products on Automation, I would still consider Selenium as the king of all the products for automation testing when it comes to web applications. My company is a Job search website and we are having 40M, active users, for our website they can use any browser, and Selenium is used to test all combinations of usage behavior. Selenium is also good for custom checks. Great integration with any platform and awesome documentation. Selenium IDE is very useful in terms of record and playback and it doesn't require any Coding skills to kickstart with Automation. Selenium Grid offers parallel test execution capabilities.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The most favorite thing for me about Selenium is that it's open-sourced and free and although it's free there is a ton of support for it from the developer communities. It also supports multiple languages like Java, C# Python, and many more. The installation is very easy . It has very good cross-browser support supporting Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge, and Internet Explorer. Selenium is also good for Parallel testing. One great thing about Selenium is if we face any problem there are thousands of people to help us out and get a solution for the problem. It also integrates very well with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Hudson.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Selenium can be also extended to support API testing areas. Currently, there is no capability of testing Desktop Apps using Selenium and it would be so helpful to have that. Reporting is another great place where Selenium can improve upon currently I need to depend on unit testing frameworks like TestNG for test reports but Selenium has a capability it will lot easier. It has insufficient development for objects to be found & objects with dynamic properties often fail. Selenium is currently available as an add-on for Firefox and Chrome only it would be great to have it published for other browsers like Safari, Opera, and IE
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Selenium is easy and robust to use. Also, it's easy for a beginner to get a grasp of the framework. Selenium can be used as a test automation tool for automating Web-based applications to run tests very quickly. If you have an application that is heavily focused on the user experience and interface, it can make it easier to test and create use cases and be reported on it. It can also help test the application with multiple browsers, which has been a challenge for tech software companies. Mainly an automation framework built around a selenium web driver is used for Regression Testing coverage, hence testing time can be greatly reduced.
