Small business CLASSIC, but getting pricey

What differentiates Quickbooks Enterprise from other similar products?
I've been using Quickbooks Desktop for 30 years now. It is truly the gold standard for efficient small business bookkeeping with a very user-friendly interface. It's very easy for a non-accounting professional to set-up and run, using the wizards and tutorials. The software integrates with quite a few other programs. That said, there are a number of newer products out there that are offering competitive alternatives, such as Freshbooks.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The desktop product allows multiple entities/companies with the same subscription, which is far more cost-effective than having multiple accounts online which require their own unique subscriptions. I like that I can sync my banking data and quickly reconcile all accounts. The desktop version is perfect for those who don't need to access/use from a mobile device (phone or tablet).. I have it installed on my desktop and laptop, and it works perfectly.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Quickbooks Desktop Pro software is being phased out, and I believe as of May 2023, the program requires an annual subscription. Most software companies have made this transition, so it's not unique, but the cost of recurring annual subscriptions have far out-paced the price of installing upgraded versions now and then. What happens if you need to close your business? Do you still need to subscribe annually to maintain useful and workable access to old accounts? I haven't had a direct response to this question. Indeed, I feel client support has declined over the years.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
The Desktop version is very useful for those who have multiple small businesses and don't need constant and immediate access to their books on the fly with a mobile device.. Quickbooks offers a number of free trial options, so there's nothing to lose by giving it a shot (other than a bit of your time). It is undoubtedly the most widely used small business software that offers a lot of flexibility for non-accounting professionals who want to keep their books tidy, manage payables and receivables, and produce useful reports. There is a very active and congenial online community of users offering support and tips.

What differentiates Quickbooks Enterprise from other similar products?
QuickBooks Enterprise stands apart because it’s built for growth, offering scalability and powerful features without the complexity. It’s user-friendly, making it easy for businesses to adapt quickly. Unlike others, it provides deep customization to fit any industry, seamless integration with other tools, and flexible cloud or on-premise options. Plus, it offers exceptional support, ensuring businesses stay on track. QuickBooks Enterprise is the smart choice for those who want power, simplicity, and flexibility—all in one.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of QuickBooks Enterprise is its ability to scale with the business without losing simplicity. It empowers businesses to grow while keeping things easy to manage. The customization, flexibility, and seamless integration make it a powerful tool that adapts to your needs, not the other way around.
What do you dislike most about this product?
What I dislike most about QuickBooks Enterprise is that, at times, it can still feel limited when dealing with extremely complex, multi-layered operations. While it's powerful, some businesses with highly specialized needs might find themselves wanting more advanced customization options. It’s about pushing the boundaries even further.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I’d tell anyone considering QuickBooks Enterprise to focus on the long-term vision. It’s an excellent tool for growing businesses, but you must understand your needs clearly. Don’t just think about today—think about the scalability, the ease of use, and how it can integrate with your entire ecosystem. Invest time in learning its features, and ensure your team is ready to adopt it. QuickBooks Enterprise can take you far, but you have to use it right to truly unlock its potential.
