What is Microsoft Power Query?

Power Query is a data transformation and data preparation engine. Power Query comes with a graphical interface for getting data from sources and a Power Query Editor for applying transformations. Because the engine is available in many products and services, the destination where the data will be stored depends on where Power Query was used. Using Power Query, you can perform the extract, transform, and load (ETL) processing of data.

What differentiates Microsoft Power Query from other similar products?

‎Using Power Query reduced manual copy-paste errors in reports significantly. Power Query helps ensure consistency across teams. While many tools require coding skills, Power Query lets me visually shape, clean, and combine data without writing complex scripts.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

‎It keeps my messy data clean without writing complex formulas or scripts. Power Query saves me hours by automating repetitive data preparation tasks effortlessly. I find Power Query extremely helpful when combining data from multiple inconsistent files. The interface feels logical and guides me naturally through each transformation step.

What do you dislike most about this product?

‎I find the debugging errors to be a little frustrating, because error messages are often vague and don’t clearly explain what went wrong or how to fix it.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I recommend it for collaborative analytics environments. It enhances analytics reliability. Before diving in, identify the specific data problems you want Power Query to solve, like cleaning inconsistent data or merging multiple sources.
