What is Microsoft Power Query?

Power Query is a data transformation and data preparation engine. Power Query comes with a graphical interface for getting data from sources and a Power Query Editor for applying transformations. Because the engine is available in many products and services, the destination where the data will be stored depends on where Power Query was used. Using Power Query, you can perform the extract, transform, and load (ETL) processing of data.

What differentiates Microsoft Power Query from other similar products?

Extract, transform, and load ETL data processing is possible. Data from various sources, shapes, and sizes can be connected. You can organize the data to be processed and analyzed. It allows you to develop database transformations and connectors, as well as share them. Data can be obtained from a variety of sources, including Excel documents.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I like Microsoft Power Query. To process large volumes of data. It allows the loading and transformation of data. Data can be imported from a variety of sources, including Excel, CSV, SharePoint, SQL, and Salesforce. It is possible to clean and convert messy data into well-tabulated data. You can load data, change parameters, and perform simple transformations on rows or columns.

Power Query is different from traditional Excel work in terms of data extraction and manipulation, so users need to be trained and educated on how to use it.

Amazing visualization, hard to get going

Likeliness to Recommend

8 /10

What differentiates Microsoft Power Query from other similar products?

a. Easy data uploading. b. Use of different slicers and graphical visuals. c. Easy link up of the data. d. Effective filtering options. e. Vibrant visualization dashboard. f. Effective data analysis and report presentation. g.Real-time update as on refreshing the source.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I love that we can use it to visualize and organize data from various sources and arrange it however we choose. I import different reports or link data directly into the feed. After the report refreshes, I see an updated and in-depth world we can now use to answer questions about the past and present and make predictions for the future. The visual aspect is so appealing because I can see in different graphs and tables what was previous hundreds of lines of text.

What do you dislike most about this product?

do not know much about what goes into the background and programming of the instrument. I am essentially an end-user of the program that our tech department is crafting with my wishes and in collaboration with me. I have had to figure out how to use the reporting as I go, and sometimes, it can be very overwhelming. If something wasn't working right, I think we need an expert or specialist to go inside and correct it because I am not a programmer at all! When something hasn't refreshed correctly, or the visuals aren't updating, I am at a total loss because its all behind the scenes. Exporting the visuals could be more accessible.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Many options are available in different areas which can be confused user a lot and sometimes tools will not work as expected.

Pros

  • Performance Enhancing
  • Acts with Integrity
  • Appreciates Incumbent Status
  • Security Protects

Cons

  • Less Effective Service
  • Less Efficient Service
