What differentiates Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics from other similar products?

Microsoft Azure Synapse is more close to the opensource Big data systems like hadoop , apache spark , yet providing a modern environment for real big data scale with ease of use

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I love how well all the big data systems are integrated in a single platform . Also the Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics is very fast in adopting the latest releases of apache spark , hadoop , and good at providing bug fixes

What do you dislike most about this product?

I feel the cost is slightly higher , To get more value the cost can be reduced

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you are working in an organisation where ecommerce scale or more big data is generated then microsoft azure synapse analytics is a good choice. Also with the latest open ai llm models, open models , ML platform azure is the best choice for data engineering and data scientists

What differentiates Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics from other similar products?

Synapse stands out because it brings data warehousing, Spark processing, and data pipelines together in a single workspace. Instead of switching between separate services, everything stays connected within the Azure ecosystem. The tight integration with Azure Data Lake, Power BI, and other cloud services makes it much easier to build end-to-end analytics workflows.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite part is how easy it is to combine SQL and Spark workloads in the same environment. Being able to run transformations, build pipelines, and explore data without leaving the workspace saves a lot of time and keeps the process more organized.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The biggest challenge is the complexity of managing different pools and understanding the performance settings. It takes some time to learn how everything fits together, especially when switching between serverless and dedicated resources.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I’d recommend taking the time to set up a clear structure for storage, permissions, and resource pools from the beginning. Synapse becomes much easier to manage once those pieces are organized, and it performs best when you standardize how your team works with SQL and Spark.
