What differentiates LinkedIn Learning from other similar products?
One of the difference is that LinkedIn Learning is connected to your LinkedIn profile. Meaning, the courses you take are directly visible in your profile. When I hire someone at Rocket, I first check their LinkedIn. If they've taken courses, I know they're a learner.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite thing is that every course comes with exercise files. I tell my team at Rocket to download that file first, then practice while watching videos. This keeps both their hands and their minds working. Many people forget after just watching videos but these files remind them. This helps me a lot in my personal work. At Rocket, our culture is of continuous learning. If we set small goals then there is no pressure and learning remains consistent. I have seen that people who set goals complete more.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Its search results are so pointless. I type "communication skills for leaders" and it shows me 100 courses. There's no ranking, no clear rating. I'm a director, so I don't have time to scroll through 20 courses. In Udemy, the bestsellers appear first. Here everything is mixed which is quite stressful.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
See if it suits your style. It's good for those who can spare 15-20 minutes a day. It's not for those who want to complete the entire course in a day or two. I used it for my team at Rocket, but I don't force everyone. Whoever wants to learn should do so. Also don't make it your main learning source. Keep it secondary and always try to teach a colleague after completing a course. This way you can self analyze, how much you've learned in actual.
Pros
- Continually Improving Product
- Unique Features
- Efficient Service
- Inspires Innovation
