What differentiates Google BigQuery from other similar products?
BigQuery’s user interface is a lot more intuitive than some competitor’s offerings (especially when compared to AWS Athena for example). I also find BigQuery fits into our larger data ecosystem quite seamlessly.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The ease at which we’re able to effectively scale our analytics resources in conjunction with usage in other products (ie Looker). We find that using BigQuery with Looker gives us a range of benefits that support our business growth.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Sometimes I find the rate of product innovation to be a little sluggish. However, BI engine was recently moved into GA which is a feature that can enable great performance benefits when used correctly.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Ensure that you think about your data needs in their entirety before going ahead with BigQuery (or any competitor for that matter). BigQuery serves our use case extremely well, but it may not suit the needs of other use cases as well.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Reliable
- Enables Productivity
- Trustworthy
Cons
- Less Generous

What differentiates Google BigQuery from other similar products?
The user interface is modern, and it supports both standard and legacy sql.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Free quotas and you can request an increase. You only pay if you want to store data, so using big query is basically free. What this means is that you have the full powers of a modern data warehouse too at your beck and call
What do you dislike most about this product?
Well, I know SQL queries, and most modern Cloud Admins and Cloud Engineers are expected to know this too. So, if you don't have any idea about SQL this might be an issue.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
if it's sql that will stop you why not look at https://www.w3schools.com/sql/ brush up or even get qwiklabs training and set out on your journey to start using. You won't regret it.
