The differentiator is the connection between data management and AI. As organizations increasingly use AI, Master Data Managers need to take data feeding those system is trusted, governed, and traceable. And I also like the platform’s flexibility around different types of data and workloads. Master data doesn’t always come from clean, structured database; organizations often deal with files, application, streaming information, and other data sources.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The thing I like is the focus on making data more useful rather than simply storing it. I can see how governed data can move from being collected and managed to being analyzed and used for business decisions. And I also appreciate the platform’s flexibility when dealing with large and varied datasets.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The area I would improved is the leaning curve around governance. Unity Catalog provides strong governance capabilities, but setting up a well-organized governance structure requires careful planning. And I also find that some tasks can require more technical knowledge than I would prefer.

The important recommendation is to establish data standards before expanding the platform. Different departments may use different names, formats, codes, and definitions for the same information. And I would also recommend defining a clear strategy for the organization’s critical data domains. Customer, product, supplier, employee, and financial data may all have different ownership structures and quality requirements.
