What differentiates Azure DevOps from other similar products?

Azure DevOps comes with a breadth of features like Repository, Test Plan, Boards and Pipeline. The user interface and user experience is outstanding. You can easily navigate to any tab using the left side menu bar which very few other platforms offer. Merging Staging to Master branch can be easily achieved using either Azure Data Studio or any other third party software with zero compatibility issues.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of Azure DevOps is the how you can easily compare versions of any file or folder you are creating and modifying. The user interface is very similar to a file manager environment. The workflows like approving pull requests or commiting changes is very conveniently designed.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Finding a folder is a hassle as you have to manually scroll to the folder or file, this is one of the major shortcoming we have found so far while using Azure DevOps. The owner of folders or branches sometimes seems randomly selected with an unknown logic, and could have been designed to be for the logged in user by default who is modifying or creating any branch or folder.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you are a regular Microsoft account user then you do not need to look anywhere else for your test environment and lifecycle management workflow. Most of the features are available for free with a basic Microsoft account user.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Effective Service
