What differentiates AWS Backup from other similar products?
If you're infra is running on AWS cloud, AWS Backup makes a lot of difference, you can schedule backups on almost every AWS services that you run for instance EC2, S3, FSx for lustre, EBS etc. Also you can configure efficient policies in JSON to monitor the activities of all your AWS services in one place, you cannot find these set of features in other Backup software.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favourite aspect of the AWS Backup is it's cross region and cross account backup feature, usually we can take back of the AWS services in the native region where the service is deployed but after introducing AWS Backup, we are able to take the Cross region back as well as cross account backup of our VMs.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Although the features are very good and it's easing the IT overhead of running the backup jobs manually, the service comes with a high price. If the infrastructure is big it's very helpful and worth the price but if the infrastructure is small, it's better to look a other options as well.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you're running you're infrastructure in AWS Cloud, and you're infrastructure is large, go for it without hesitation, it will make your jobs easier and without errors.
