What is AutoCAD?
AutoCAD is computer-aided design (CAD) software that is used for precise 2D and 3D drafting, design, and modeling with solids, surfaces, mesh objects, documentation features, and more. It includes features to automate tasks and increase productivity such as comparing drawings, counting, adding objects, and creating tables. It also comes with seven industry-specific toolsets for electrical design, plant design, architecture layout drawings, mechanical design, 3D mapping, adding scanned images, and converting raster images. AutoCAD enables users to create, edit, and annotate drawings via desktop, web, and mobile devices.

Somewhat stuck in the past and living on the name. Not enough innovation.

Popularity, widespread usage.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Somewhat stuck in development. Not enough innovation. Nightmare license management. Awful and downright criminal attitude (bordering on extorsion) when dealing with problems with licensing.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
There are a lot of alternatives out there. More honest, cheaper and more powerful or more tailored to people's needs. Be very careful with the license management. Autodesk relies on a proprietary system that continuously monitors the license status on the endpoint. The problem is that the system isn't robust enough to deal with the normal inconsistencies that occur when communicating between the endpoints and Autodesk License Servers. This generates reports of overusage or illegal usage of licenses that are then "thrown" to the customers, demanding, effectively, a ransom to avoid a court action. At least, that's how it happens in Portugal.
