The unique aspect about Asana is its versatile project management and user friendly interface that is easy for teams to adopt. The functionality that allows one to switch between the list, board, timeline and calendar view ensures that different teams will be able to manage their projects in whichever way that suits them best. The capabilities such as task dependencies, comments/file sharing for collaboration, automation and integration with popular business software ensure that the projects are well organized and visibility within the entire team is improved.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The feature I like most is task management and project visibility together. In Asana, it is easy to set up tasks, delegate them, and attach deadlines for tracking everything. Having the option of switching from a list view to a board view, a timeline view, and a calendar view provides teams with flexible ways of managing projects.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The main drawback is the steep learning curve. There are many options and functions within Asana that could prove difficult to use, especially in bigger organizations. Aggressive notifications could also prove to be an irritant if they are not well managed. The advanced reporting and automation tools, among others, are only available in the more expensive versions of the software.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Introduce complex workflow systems only after you set up a basic project structure and project norms within your team. Consistency in the use of templates, deadlines, and assignment of task ownership will make it easier to understand how tasks are organized. These features can prove extremely valuable once your team gets comfortable using the system. It will be more effective once all members of your team start using it regularly.
