What differentiates Adobe InDesign from other similar products?

InDesign also provides users with numerous page layout options, including grids, columns and frames. Users can easily layer multiple elements on a page and adjust them as needed. Furthermore, Adobe InDesign offers an extensive library of templates, which are great for quickly creating projects without having to start from scratch.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I appreciate the flexibility InDesign offers when it comes to page layouts. The grids, columns and frames are perfect for creating complex designs with multiple elements. Plus, the library of templates is great for quickly creating designs without having to start from scratch. All these features make Adobe InDesign an essential tool for any graphic designer.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Another area of improvement would be to have more color palettes and text options available. Being able to easily access these features from within the program would make it even easier to create stunning designs. All in all, Adobe InDesign is an excellent software, but there are some areas that I would like to see improved upon.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Adobe InDesign is also great for collaborating with others. It's easy to share documents and collaborate on projects with anyone in the world. Users can easily add comments, images, and text on any document or project to make sure that everyone is on the same page. Plus, with cloud-based storage, users will never have to worry about losing their work or sharing documents with collaborators.

An Essential Tool for Our Team

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates Adobe InDesign from other similar products?

If you use Adobe Creative Cloud as we do, Adobe InDesign integrates seamlessly with the other applications in this suite. We can easily update assets by updating embedded PSD or AI files. Fonts are easy to update through Adobe's library. Plus, it's quick to set up a wide variety of different formats required for omnichannel campaigns.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Adobe InDesign catches many errors before exporting—the publishing features alert us to any errors in the file before exporting (missing links, fonts, overset type, etc.). We have included this check within the QA of our materials, and it's caught a couple of potential reprints for our printed materials. In addition to these safeguard features, there is a wealth of tutorials for learning more about using the tools and features within InDesign.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The only thing I dislike about this software is that it's limiting in regards to collaboration. Only one designer can open a file at a time. While this helps to limit the risk for errors, it's difficult for larger publications. To allow for our designers to work on our catalogs together, for example, we've split the catalog into different sections and our designers trade off on sections as they work.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

To get started with this software, I highly recommend getting started first with Adobe's tutorials, taking an online course, or attending Adobe MAX virtually for inspiration. As with many Adobe titles, there are a wealth of features, and it does take time to onboard someone new.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Reliable
  • Enables Productivity
  • Fair
