Great Publishing Tool for Analysts and Creatives

Likeliness to Recommend

What differentiates Adobe InDesign from other similar products?

Unlike other similar products, Adobe InDesign gives users absolute control over typography and master templates. For a BA, this means you can build a report where every header, page number, and margin is perfectly consistent across the entire document, regardless of how many times the content changes.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The paragraph and character Styles. Once you set these up, you can reformat an entire massive document efficiently. You can easily edit the style once.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Importing data from Excel or a JSON feed is still more manual than it should be for a professional tool. It'd great to see some improvement on that.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you only need quick social graphics or 2-page flyers, stick with Canva. I'd recommend to use Adobe InDesign when you have a project that needs to be repeated like a monthly report. The time you spend setting up the template once will save you many hours in the long run.

Pros

  • Reliable
  • Enables Productivity
  • Unique Features
  • Effective Service

What differentiates Adobe InDesign from other similar products?

With InDesign, we can create flashy, professional content like never before. The templates are great and the features allow us to spruce or edit content quickly and effectively.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Its workflow is extremely robust in its object styles and characters - I've saved a copious amount of time on edits that are now as simple as a few clicks. Its integration with other Adobe programs is also a huge plus.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Sometimes pasting objects into InDesign and moving them into a specific location is much more difficult than it should be.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Absolutely take advantage of all of the tutorials out there to fully be able to leverage the platform's features - otherwise I fear you'd be missing out.
