What differentiates Microsoft Power Apps from other similar products?
Most businesses already use Microsoft office applications, I cant think of any other platform that can say they have the financial strength and the staff allocated to help new users like Microsoft does. There is a very large community established and if Microsoft sees you're using this product in a variety of ways they'll reach out to you to see what if anything is lacking on their side, any features i've suggested they add in the past have been features they were already implementing in the next update or will add it to a list for other users to vote on. If more users want the same feature as you it'll be prioritized on their list.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect about this PowerApps is how is natively connects to all other office365 products, so if you want to use a sharepoint list as a product list, but then want to use an excel document as an inventory list of those products found in your sharepoint list you can easily pull in any data you would like. Years ago application development used to take well over a year or more but with PowerApps if you have the data you need and it's not stored on someone's personal computer somewhere out in the wild you can quite literally create a fully functional application that looks good and performs even better. The impact is felt immediately
What do you dislike most about this product?
There are different PowerApps, PowerApps is apart of Office 365 and was originally intended to be used by other staff members within your organization. That alone is worth quite a bit, I cant tell you how many organizations that have their own "excel macro guru" only for me to look at the code written by the Macro and find serious flaws in it. Costly flaws when it comes to reporting revenue or creating reports with incorrect data. but one thing I can complain about anything with PowerApps is that if you are the type of person that would like to create an app for those outside of your organization it can be costly with PowerApp Portals.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Many organizations are content or too busy to even think whether or not their existing processes are the most efficient, least costly way of doing a particular task. If this is the type of organization you work with then you must come to the realization that the world is changing all the same, technology is fast paced and if you are not continually looking at ways to cut costs or automate tasks then you are bleeding money. The sooner you realize the need to hire a specialized team to map your processes and make recommendations the less likely you are to become the next AOL of your industry. Embrace change & and innovate with new ideas.
