Great for teams already using Google Workspace

What differentiates Google Meet from other similar products?
Google Meet stands out among other video conferencing tools due to its seamless integration with Google Workspace, which includes popular applications like Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Docs. This integration makes scheduling and joining meetings simple, as it’s all accessible within a centralized platform, which is particularly advantageous for teams already using Google’s suite of business tools. Additionally, Google Meet offers strong, built-in security features—such as two-step verification and end-to-end encryption—providing peace of mind for users concerned about data protection.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
One of my favorite aspects of Google Meet is its straightforward user interface, making it one of the most user-friendly options for video conferencing. Users don’t need to download a dedicated app on desktops, which makes joining a meeting as easy as clicking a link—especially beneficial for external participants who might not be as tech-savvy. The integration with Google Calendar is another highlight; it not only schedules meetings but automatically includes meeting links in invitations. Additionally, Google Meet’s noise-canceling feature is highly effective, reducing background noise to enhance audio quality.
What do you dislike most about this product?
However, there are areas where Google Meet could improve. For example, it lacks some of the customizable options that other platforms, like Zoom, provide—such as advanced meeting controls, personalized avatars, and breakout room enhancements. Additionally, screen sharing can occasionally experience delays or freezing, which can disrupt the flow of a presentation. Lastly, while it integrates with Google apps flawlessly, Google Meet offers fewer third-party integrations compared to other platforms, limiting its functionality for companies relying on more varied tools.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
For someone considering Google Meet, I’d recommend it if they are already using Google Workspace or value simplicity and cost-effectiveness. Google Meet is ideal for organizations focused on seamless collaboration within the Google ecosystem and seeking strong security measures. Its ease of use and effective, essential features make it a great choice for regular team meetings or client check-ins, especially for those who don’t need extensive customization.
