Generation Y does not live up to the majority of the stereotypes put upon them; in reality, they want many of the same things in the workplace that other generations want. They are very eager to learn and develop in their careers. Flexibility and development are key components of the Generation Y-friendly work environment. Understanding the similarities and differences between the generations is an important first step to becoming an employer of choice.

This storyboard will:

  • Speak to the myths and realities associated with Gen Y in the workforce.
  • Make the case to HR professionals of the importance of the demographic change in the workplace.
  • Provide information to help gain buy-in from leadership to implement effective engagement initiatives.
  • Provide engagement initiatives for both Job Engagement Drivers (to engage an employee with their day-to-day role) and Organizational Engagement Drivers (to retain employees and maintain an organization’s reputation).
  • Provide suggestions about next steps – knowing that you need to engage Gen Y is the first step; we’ll also help you determine which steps should come next.

With the impending retirement of the Baby Boomers, it is critical to engage Generation Y now in order to achieve business goals for the future.
