The job diary method is a great way to collect job analysis data for jobs that have few observable activities and/or when direct observation is not possible. Collecting job information via the diary method requires an easy to complete form that allows incumbents to capture information about the job behaviors they perform.

This job analysis diary template provides:

  • An outline for a cover page to communicate introductory information about the job diary to incumbents.
  • A diary format that can be easily adapted to suit the needs of your particular job analysis project.
  • A list of the types of information that can be collected with a job diary.

Use this template as a starting point for developing a diary form to collect job information from incumbents who hold the job being analyzed.
