Difficult conversations often include some element of conflict and it is helpful to understand what your typical approach is to addressing conflict, and how it can help or harm the conversation. This Conflict Styles Self-Assessment will help participants in the Difficult Conversations Training session identify what their dominant conflict style(s) is and how they can be optimized in a difficult conversation.

The assessment covers the conflict styles of:

  • Collaborating
  • Competing
  • Avoiding
  • Compromising
  • Accommodating

The assignment of each style is accompanied by when to use it in a difficult conversation, and how to make it effective.
