The Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs) that have been identified as required to perform a job are often organized into a structured job analysis inventory. The purpose of a KSAO inventory is to collect ratings from job experts on scales such as importance and required proficiency in order to identify, in a defensible manner, the KSAOs that are critical for performing the job successfully.
