An HR leader will meet with many stakeholders over the course of just a few weeks or months. It's easy to lose track of all the expectations that have been expressed. As part of effective stakeholder relations, it's a good practice to document the expectations expressed during meetings, planning events, or even seemingly casual conversations.

This log will help you document:

  • Details of discussed expectations by stakeholders.
  • Circumstances under which the expectation arose.
  • Any actions that must or have been taken to fulfill the expectation.

One of the worst things you can do is to solicit input, then ignore it. Use this log to document the details of HR stakeholder expectations so that they're not overlooked, and to refresh your memory prior to a key meeting or status reporting exercise.
