Make development an HR core competency.

  • Development activities of training, coaching, and career planning are critical to employee engagement, retention, and optimization.
  • Don’t force staff to navigate the development pathway all alone, or else they’ll walk themselves right out the door. It’s every leader’s job to get involved, set standards, and prioritize development every day.
  • Employee development doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. In fact, some of the most effective forms of development only require a nominal investment of time.
